The Revell Supermarine Spitfire Mk.XVI Model Kit in 1/48 scale from the plastic aircraft models range accurately recreates the real life British fighter aircraft flown during World War II.
This Revell aircraft model requires paint and glue to complete.
The Spitfire in parallel with the Bf109 is the best known and most famous fighter of World War II. Its performance was continually enhanced by numerous improvements and upgrades. From 1944 the Spitfire Mk. XVI with the Merlin 66 engine went into production. The first aircraft of the Spitfire IX type went into service with RAF 64 Squadron in July 1942 and from then on proved themselves as the most effective defensive weapon against the Fw190 in the theatres of war in both Europe and the Near East. The Spitfire was produced up to the end of the war and a total of 1,054 of the Mk. XVI were made and used by squadrons of the RAF and 23 Allied forces under the command of RAF Fighter Command.
